Indonesian Carrier Fixing Glitch, Flights Grounded

Indonesia’s national carrier is scrambling to fix a computer glitch that has grounded domestic flights for hundreds of passengers.  Garuda Indonesia spokesman Pujobroto said Wednesday the problem started over the weekend when the airline tried to upgrade software for work schedules of its 2,800 pilots and cabin crew.

He said a technician failed to plug in a data cable before the switch and that wiped the system clean. At least 26 domestic flights have been canceled since Sunday.

International flights so far have not been affected.  Garuda has 81 aircraft and operates around 2,000 flights weekly.
